Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to take my vehicle to the insurance company’s recommended shop?
No. Some insurers only recommend shops that offer the insurer a discount for sending the customer there. Danny Myers will probably not be the cheapest shop, but you will get a quality repair at a fair price. The insurance company is not allowed to discriminate against you if you choose to take your vehicle to the shop of your choice. Steering is illegal and you should report any company that tries to force you to a particular shop. YOU own the vehicle, YOU choose the shop.
Do I have to get three estimates?
No. There is no law in Oklahoma that requires you to get estimates. Some insurers may want you to visit their drive-in claims office. You can do this or simply choose the shop you want to repair your vehicle and take it there. The adjuster can go to the shop to inspect your vehicle. Never drive a vehicle that could be unsafe due to damages.
Where do I get a claim number?
Your insurance company will give you a claim number when you report your accident. Be sure to bring it with you when you drop off your vehicle or call it in to us if your vehicle is towed in. The staff at Danny Myers will do the rest.
What’s a total loss?
A total loss occurs when the price of repairs exceeds the insurance company’s determined value of your vehicle.
Why is there a difference in estimates from different shops?
Differences are common. Lower estimates may not include all the necessary work to ensure your vehicle is returned to pre-accident condition. Using lower-quality parts and materials will also affect the price. Danny Myers will repair your vehicle using high-quality parts and materials at a fair price. Ask us to explain any differences; we’ll be glad to help.
Can you match the paint?
We take pride in our ability to match factory finishes as the final step in the restoration process. Danny Myers has made a large investment in one of the finest paint systems available and continuously upgrades equipment and technology to ensure your satisfaction.
What is PDR?
PDR is Paintless Dent Repair. The process allows minor dents and dings and hail damage to be repaired without repainting. The process is not suitable for all vehicles, but can be a quick, cost-effective alternative in some cases.
What about the frame?
Today, most cars are built using unibody (frame and body as one) construction. Our highly skilled techs use a state-of-the-art laser measuring system to return your vehicle to its original factory specifications.
Can I get other work done on my vehicle while it is already in the shop?
Yes. We can tint your windows, spruce up your car with pinstripes, and add truck or car accessories. Just let us know what you want.
How long will it take?
We can give you an estimated time when you bring your car in. However, please be aware that the repair process involves many variables. Possible delays might include: additional hidden damage that may be found upon tear-down, waiting on additional parts needed or waiting for parts that are on backorder, and waiting on insurance company representatives to inspect your vehicle.
Can I get a ride home?
Yes, we are happy to offer local courtesy transportation. Free pickup and delivery is available.
How do I get a rental car?
We can help you make the necessary arrangements. If the accident was not your fault, you are generally entitled to a rental car if the other person has insurance. If you were at fault, you are entitled to a rental car only if you purchased rental coverage on your policy. Check your policy or call your insurance agent if you’re not sure or to see what your limitations are.
Do I have to pay a deductible?
That depends on your policy. Usually, if you were not at fault and you carry broad collision, the insurance company will waive the deductible for you. Also, if you are a claimant (the accident was the other person’s fault) and the other person is insured, you will not owe a deductible. You can check with your agent if you’re not sure.
Who do I pay the deductible to?
If you owe a deductible, you must pay the shop before your vehicle can be released.
What is a betterment charge?
Parts that wear out and need replacement with time and use such as tires, batteries, and suspension parts are sometimes subject to a betterment charge when they are replaced during the repair process. The collision repair company does not determine these charges. They are determined by the insurance company and are pro-rated based on the actual miles on your vehicle.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Danny Myers accepts Visa, MasterCard, insurance checks, cashier’s checks, and cash. We do not take personal checks.
What if the check has a lien holder’s name on it?
The lien holder must endorse the check before we can accept it. The lien holder will usually want proof that the vehicle has been repaired before signing the check. We can usually help with this by providing documentation or pictures.
Can the insurance company leave the lien holder’s name off the check to avoid the hassle?
Yes. Most of the time, the insurance company will include the shop’s name instead of the lien holder if you ask. This is much more convenient for everyone. If the check has already been issued in your name and the lien holder’s name, you can ask the insurance company to reissue it in the above described manner.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, Danny Myers offers a limited LIFETIME warranty.
